Disable Spam Comment Notifications Plugin
The Disable Spam Comment Notifications plugin is a very nice plugin which corrects some bad functionality in Graffiti CMS. The functionality that cauees a problem is the comment notification email.
Whenever a comment is created on a Graffiti site, an email is sent to the administrator. However, consider if the site is being spammed by a spam bot and this spam bot sends 100 comments to the site. This is fine because the spam will not be posted due to the built in spam detection. The problem being, even though the comments are not displayed on the site an email is sent out to the site administrators. Consequently, 100 comments that are spam will generate 100 emails to the adminstrators.
The Disable Spam Comment Notifications plugin intercepts this action before the email is sent and if the comment is spam, tells Graffiti to not send an email. This plugin is very useful as it will keep Administrator in boxes clean from comment spam sent from the Graffiti site.

Comment spam is a fact of life if you have a blog. Using WordPress, you have not only solid built-in tools to prevent comment spam, there are also a wide range of comment spam protection and defense plugins and methods to choose from if you feel you need additional coverage and protection.
